The National Oncology Regional Medical Center was officially approved to be located in Lanzhou High-tech Development Zone. The Center was jointly built by Gansu Cancer Hospital and Sun Yat-sen University Affiliated Cancer Hospital. Named Gansu Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University Affiliated Cancer Hospital, it is the first national regional medical center approved for construction in Gansu Province.
The National Development and Reform Commission, the National Health Commission, and the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine jointly announced that taking into account the high incidence of cancer, the high referral rate of cancer patients outside the province, and the heavy economic burden of seeing a doctor, Gansu Province decided to jointly establish a national cancer regional medical center with Sun Yat-sen University Affiliated Cancer Hospital.
The Gansu Hospital Project of Sun Yat-sen University Affiliated Cancer Hospital will be located in Lanzhou High-tech Development Zone, covering an area of about 300 mu with about 1,300 beds. The project will officially start construction in the very near future.
After the project is completed, it will mainly undertake the task of cancer prevention and treatment in Gansu Province. It aims to provide high-quality cancer prevention and treatment in the region, eliminating the need of patients in Gansu Province to travel afar to seek cancer-related medical help, and to reduce treatment costs.
In addition, it will become a high-level tumor professional training base, a high-standard scientific research innovation and transformation platform, and a high-level modern cancer hospital management in the western region.
